How To Be More Consistent With Fitness

In order to sucessfully achieve your fitness goals you have to be consistent. You’ve probably heard this before as consistency is not only key to achieving your fitness goals but also to success in other aspects of life. So what exactly can you do to be more consistent?

1) SET GOALS

Decide on a specific goal to determine your direction. It can be overwhelming and frustrating to look at your big goal that might seem so far out of reach. Once you identify your main goal, setting small goals along the way and achieving them will motivate you to keep going. Set goals that you feel confident about achieving and also challenge you. This will teach you to be your own motivation and build confidence.

2) FIND YOUR DEEPER MOTIVATION

Losing x amount of pounds or looking good in a bikini is a great start. Look further for an even deeper motivation. Why do you really want to lose that weight and look good in a bikini? The kind of motivation that is strong enough to put your feelings aside when you’re tired and sore and really don’t want to get up and train.

3) SURROUND YOURSELF WITH LIKE MINDED PEOPLE

Having a great support system is important. Surround yourself with positive people who share similar interests, who motivate you and inspire you to better yourself. Don’t be afraid to let go of negative people who are holding you back. I prefer being alone over bad company any day.

4) FIND A SUSTAINABLE DIET THAT YOU CAN STICK TO IN THE LONG RUN

“The best diet is the one that you can stick to”. Finding the diet that works best for you and your lifestyle is key to consitency and getting results that you can maintain. When trying out different diets make sure you stick with each diet long enough to really see how it works for you – I’d suggest give it at least 2-3 months. Changing it up too frequently you’re likely missing out on the full potential and results.

5) FIND THE TYPE OF TRAINING THAT YOU TRULY ENJOY

Depending on your goals your training will probably involve resistance training. Try different styles of training to find the one you truly enjoy. Training regularily is so much easier when you actually enjoy it. Training should be fun!

6) FIND A GYM THAT YOU LOVE AND LOOK FORWARD TO GOING TO

Check out as many gyms as necessary to find the one that’s right for you. Take into consideration the loction, the business hours, parking, make sure they have all the equipment you need for your training etc. Choosing a gym that you love will make it that much easier to go there on a regular basis.

7) MAKE TRAINING PART OF YOUR SCHEDULE

Like work and other important appointments, make training a priority and part of your schedule. We don’t HAVE time but we MAKE time for what is important to us.
